Oil Seal Functions:
1. Prevents Lubricant Leakage: The rear axle differential is filled with high-viscosity gear oil (differential oil). The oil seal's rubber primary lip fits tightly against the rotating drive shaft, blocking oil from seeping out along the shaft journal and ensuring the differential gears and bearings remain fully lubricated.
2. Blocks External Contaminants: This seal features a design that includes a dust lip. Given the harsh operating environments trucks face, the dust lip effectively prevents external mud, dust, and moisture from entering the differential and causing gear wear.
3. Active Oil Return Structure: The seal surface features left-hand twist oil-return grooves. As the shaft rotates, this structure generates a hydrodynamic pumping effect, "pushing" any oil attempting to escape back into the transmission/differential housing.
4. High-Temperature and Corrosion Resistance: Manufactured from fluoroelastomer (FPM/Viton). Compared to standard nitrile rubber, this material withstands the high temperatures generated during heavy-duty truck rear axle operation and resists chemical corrosion from long-life gear oils.
